Where did the funny go?

I don't know what happened.......

I had the funny - really I did. I had all these funny posts in my head. I was typing away on my laptop working on my book - yes - I pretend I am writing a book but really it is just a journal of my rambling thoughts but anyway - I was typing away......

Then - the funny was gone...........

I have had literally zilch in the way of witty Facebook status updates - zilch! My twitter account is basically blank - I mean - it just seems to me like if you are not participating in a gazillion giveaways or having a huge life altering crisis or are not Ashton Kutcher - what's the point?

Posts - they just aren't coming to me. I could go with the inspirational - yes - tried that a couple of times this week but you know - you guys can only take so much of that before you get bored and move on the the next blog.

I have nothing dramatic going on in my life. No big medical issues, no real drama of any kind. This is actually something I am very thankful for - not so good in the blogging world.

So that leaves me with the funny. Surely I can do something funny - right?

But guess what...............

I lost the funny - oh wait..........

it's coming back to me now - wait a minute hold on - I have to run and listen to something in the game room................

While playing a game of hide and seek - the Little Buddy was in the game room sitting on the floor with a bucket on his head - little feet sticking straight out - singing to himself

"You not find me You not find me You not find me"

Wish I had a working camera up here - that would have really helped the funny come back. Oh well - you gotta start somewhere.

I Heart Faces - Beach

So - I had a really, really hard time choosing my beach picture this week because with three kids and two really cool beach trips under our belt - well - I have quite a few. I had to go with this one of the Noodle because it is such a funny, funny little face. Can you tell it was June in San Diego and it was a little chilly? :)

'cuba 'teve

This is my son. He is a man of many nicknames and now we have a new one.......

Scuba Steve

or

 in his words
'cuba 'teve
After swim lessons last week - we had to go and buy him his own pair of goggles.
This is how he walked out of the store - holding Mommy's hand of course.

He did retire them to his head so that he could fully enjoy his after swim 'pecial treat!

Not Me Monday

I have not been ignoring my poor pretty bowheads blog because we have not been having an awesome, fun, week!
We did not order Pizza with one of our favorite families on Saturday and then pick up Dickies with another of our favorite families on Sunday!
The scale was not kind to me this morning - no - really - it wasn't - for real.
I do not have a baby girl that is going to be 5 tomorrow morning. Sniff. I am not having a difficult time with this.
I did not get in my car this afternoon with Mimi and all three kids after a fun trip to Central Market and my car temp did not read 121!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 121 For real. I did not take a picture of this and I will not add that picture to this post tomorrow.
The temp did not lower to a reasonable 109 as we started home.
Gotta run - I do not have more to do than time to do it in. :)

Not Me Monday

Time is short - bedtime is imminent - I am not going to make my post short and sweet. :)

I do not have a 2 year old boy running around this house in a pink princess pull up right now.

I did not let anyone in this house eat an ice cream sandwich anywhere near breakfast time.

I certainly did not let anyone in this house eat an ice cream sandwich FOR breakfast - no way.

I did not walk into my pediatrician's office this morning, stand and chat with the girl at the front desk and then have my pediatrician walk up and say, "Holly - you guys just come on back, Ellen can sign you in...."

While at the doctor this morning with my coughing child, my pediatrician did not get a big grin on her face and say, "well at least we know it is not pertussis!!!!!"

Hilarious - really............

I am not listening to the sound of a 6 foot 5 inch man crazily racing up and down the hallways with three small people on 4 stick horses.

I am not sooooooooo ready for bed that I am going to wrap this up with a big fat I did not wake up 3 gajillion times last night with a poor cough cough cough cough cough coughing two year old.

I am pretty sure that at one point I did not promise him that if he would stop coughing I would buy him a pony.

I would never do anything like that.

Not Me!

A Comment Correction

So tonight, I was reading a blog that I really like - here and decided to leave a comment because I have been inspired here

I read the post - it was a cute post - a good post - a funny post.............

I typed

:) funny

Good comment - right? Short, succint, to the point, complimentary.........

Did the computer think that?

umh - not so much

The computer told me my comment was too brief and to try again.

Seriously?

Anyway - I made my comment longer by rambling about the whole thing and decided to continue the ramblings here..........

Just cuz'

A Big Fourth of July with some Walgreens kind of love

We had a great Fourth of July but I never really had a great post until I discovered a wonderful concept that I like to call Walgreens Love........

Let me explain - no it is too much - let me sum up (quote - yes Princess Bride - the best)

We had a fun day and had Mimi and Papa over for dinner and then we headed out to watch some fireworks.

Well...... before the fireworks - we were working on dinner and I went to pull our Pampered Chef round stone out of the oven with one hand in an oven mitt......

Yes

Crash

Sadly - I tried to catch it with my other hand.........

Yes - ouch

I know that the picture cannot even do the fingers justice but let me just tell you - OUCH!!!!!

I put ice on it - went about my business. We all went to the fireworks, I moaned and complained some but basically said - "oh no, I am fine - ice will do the trick".

We came home and were scurrying around putting kids in bed when the phone rings from Walgreens - the Daddy answered - "hello??????" It was Mimi and Papa. They had forgotten their cell phones but had gone to Walgreens to buy me Aloe and pain relief stuff and were dropping it back off on the porch.

HOW GREAT IS THAT????????????

I mean - you TOTALLY know the feeling - when you go late at night to roam the isles of your local drug store looking for ANYTHING that will make your child feel better???????? That is Walgreens kind of love - parents - you KNOW what I am talking about!

I think it is so awesome that never goes away - even when you are 34.......

I hope I get to keep roaming drug stores for a very, very long time. Looking for anything that will make it better!

Thanks Mimi and Papa!

Happy Fourth of July!

The Great Pertussis Scare of 2009 (Alternative title: There is Pertussis Amongus!)

Soooooooooo................

Do you remember when I posted the cute pic below of the cake and the watermelon inside at Soccer Tots because we were on our way to a dinner party and did not want them to get heated to a balmy 113 here in Texas?

Well.....................

At said dinner party - the host's (whom I love dearly just by the way) oldest Son had a terrible wicked no good very bad cough. He is also a Reactive Airway Disease kid just like my Noodle and is her "vewy favowite boy" as she likes to say.  As we drove away from the party I did turn to the BD and say, "you know - that really was a bad cough - I sure hope he is ok".

Fast forward to Wednesday - 1:50pm - I am dressing kids in swim suits to head over to a birthday party for one of our very best friends.  Mom is an essential part of my Momtourage AND a Co-Cupcake-Lifestyle-Change -Creator AND the mother of the FOUR most precious girls you have ever met. Now needless to say - thankfully - I got the call before we all headed over to her house and infected half of our town's population of girls with.........

wait for it...............

oh yes - you know by now from my title:

Pertussis

aka

WHOOPING COUGH!

Sigh...............

I had JUST been at the pediatrician that morning with my own Reactive Airway Disease cutie patootie plus the Little Buddy had a little cough so we called our pediatrician who immediately sent us to a big children's hospital nearby to be tested ASAP because you know what starts tomorrow???????

yes

The Fourth of July Three Day Weekend! Yippee - right? Not so much if you are waiting on Pertussis results and have no idea if you are fit for human company.

Soooo we race to the Pediatrician pick up the forms to get the test done, pick up the Best Daddy and head off to the lab in a wing of the big hospital.

We get there - we get out of the car and we head in where I have to check three children in to the hospital and get outfitted with arm bands!
I just wanted to say, "really? we are just going to be here for a second (little did I know) and I will keep a close eye on them. No need for id tags."

No luck......

So 20 minutes later - we get checked in - head to the lab, she takes my millions of stickers and then says, "oh ooops - we can't do a Pertussis test here - you have to go to the BIG hospital."

sigh

So we head back out to our car after some very serious instructions that involved a parking garage, two elevators and a sky bridge. As we are loading up I say, "Sarah Jessica Parker - the stickers the stickers, we need to get the stickers back from the girl!!!!!!!!"

So I run back in (have I mentioned it is really really really hot in Texas this time of year?) Anyway I digress......

We finally get to the next lab. I sign the children in at 4:18. My pediatrician gave us strict instructions (at 2:30 by the way) that we were to take the test (by the way - at this point - I still have NO idea what kind of test we were talking about but more on that later) by 5:00 in order to get results back before the holiday - 5:00pm -  I say - 5:00pm for the love of Mike - 5:00pm!!!!!!!!

So the lab guys says that they have to get someone from respiratory over there and it would be just a minute......

Flash to 4:57pm - I am literally about to come out of my skin. I can feel the grey hairs pushing out of my scalp and the zits bulging out of my face............

Respiratory shows up. One by one I have to go back into a room with a man with a mask and gloves on and watch him joke as he shoves a sparkler- like object up each and every one of my children's noses until they screamed as if their eyelashes were being plucked out.......

.......it was great. By the time we left the hospital the poor Noodle was wheezing so hard from the stress of it all - I almost thought we were going to have to stop in at emergency to get a quick breathing treatment but at this point the Best Daddy has that grim - I am a Daddy - I am going to get us the hell out of here - if I have to go rogue Spiderman and climb the walls -  look on his face, so we just scurried on home.

Thursday morning dawns and we play the waiting game. We stay in our pj's, we do breathing treatments, we make balloon animals (well sort of), we watch TV, we wait.......

I call the hospital - here is the conversation.....

Me - yes hello there - I would like to check on my (insert last name) children's pertussis tests

Guy on phone at hospital - yes the labs are in the computer but I am afraid that I cannot release them to you - you are "only their Mother".......

Now let me tell you - at this point - you know when people joke about exploding - I actually know that feeling now - I really really think that my neck is sore now from trying to hold my head on.........

Anyway conversation continued....

Me - (voice one octave higher) ONLY THEIR MOTHER??????

Guy on phone - well yes Ma'am - we have no way of knowing if you are actually their Mother

Me - CAN YOU NOT TELL FROM THE HYSTERICAL TONE IN MY VOICE THAT I AM THEIR MOTHER????????

Guy on phone - I am sorry Ma'am - I need their doctor to call.
