Warning bloody images were used in the telling of this tale

I was cleaning out the garage

It was a beautiful Spring day

My 5 year old and 3 year old were playing on the patio

I was cleaning out the garage
I reached up
Went to move a cooler
next to a small square speaker

Said speaker (which was freakishly heavy by the way) fell off of shelf above my head with a thunk

My hands immediately went to my head

I ran inside
grabbed a dish towel from the counter

went and looked at myself in the bathroom

Checked on the children (who by the way did not even realize I was hurt until WAY later)

sat down at kitchen table to think
oh oh

What do I do now?

Can't call my Mom. She will come tearing over here like a crazy person and we have the stomach virus in the house.

Call Husband - he does not pick up Call local BFF (I have two - I love you both equally - one is very close - one not so much - hence the order of the phone call)

ANYWAY - local BFF - does not pick up

I take this picture

and text it to local BFF and husband with caption
would you go get this stitched?

Local BFF and husband call within seconds. Local BFF says - I am driving there - wait one minute

Husband is a mixture of reassuring and mocking

Not sure how I feel about that.

:) Insert smiley face here so all know that husband is a great guy who enjoys teasing me and I am all good with that. I am also INCREDIBLY accident prone - remember this story?)

Local BFF shows up out front with 2 of her 4 children (her house is in the middle of the stomach virus also so she is not as scared of my germs as the rest of society)

Local BFF goes to Walgreens and gets me butterfly bandage.

I apply butterfly bandage and Local BFF jumps in her mini van to go pick up from school as I jump in my mini van to go pick up my oldest from school because after all

The show must go on

This is me the next day - much better (I heart butterfly bandages by the way)

This is the text I sent to Local BFF and husband 2 days later with the caption:
SERIOUSLY?

I'm so sorry! I'm pretty accident prone, but never to the level of actual blood...just a lot of bruises. You're lucky to have friends willing to rush over when you need 'em :)

Not to sound sadistic or anything, but heh, heh, heh.

NOt funny at all, but wow, it could have been worse. You handled it well!

You are much braver than me. I would have been a puddle of helpless tears on the floor.

Next time go Super Glue!! I learned that from hockey players, after I spent 3 hours in an ER starting at 11am after getting hit by a hockey puck. It's good to have war wounds!! :)

OW, are you sure that doesn't need at least liquid stitches?!
