ANOTHER post with no pictures - I know - can you believe it?

So we have this piano

It is pretty much a brokedownbustedbutcutetolookatpianotunersnightmare piano

It had a pretty bench that was expensive so I put it on Craigslist for 250 dollars

I got a TON of emails that day

This strange piano tuner man comes over with his daughter. I SO wish I had taken her picture but did not want to creep her out.

She was
a sixth grader
heavyset
bowl haircut - yes EXACTLY like the Jack in the Box commercials
very sweet
very strange

She walked in my door, looked me in the eye and said

"you got kids?"

I said

"yes"

She said

"can I play with them?"

I say,

"um ok"

Then she sniffs the air and here is how the rest of our time with her was spent:

Girl: "Mrs. (she called me Mrs. - just like Junie B) do you have food? Can I have some? I am so hungry and that smells so good! Do you actually cook it?"

I invite her into my kitchen.

Girl: "OH you have milk? Can I have some milk? What did you cook? Did you make that? Can I have some more milk? YOU HAVE STRAWBERRIES? Can I have a roll? Can I have some more milk? YOU HAVE GRAPES? Can I have some more milk? Can I have some more beef please? This is SO nice! I can't believe you cooked this! (It was pot roast from the crockpot) Can I have some more milk? My Daddy doesn't cook much - we mostly eat MickeyD's.
Can I have some more milk?"

By now my heart is breaking and my children are actually slack jawed watching her eat. She asks for a baggy to take her leftovers in. I give it to her. My children proceed to offer her EVERYTHING they had on their plates - they were rolling grapes at her, handing her carrot sticks and strawberries frantically as fast as they could. We filled up a baggy and she asked for
more milk
I told her that I didn't want her to have a tummy ache but would she like a bottle of water.
She said:
can I have two?
I said no one was good would she also like a roll to take?

"oh yes Mrs. that would be GREAT - I sure wish you guys had another piano to sell my Dad so I could come back here tomorrow - well bye"

and then she was gone......

At bedtime my 8 year old said,
"she didn't have a Mommy did she?"
I said that I didn't think so
"and her Daddy might not be doing the best job?"
I said that I didn't think so but it was not my place to judge anyone else
"Mommy - I love you and Daddy SO much and I appreciate everything you do for us and thank you for making me eat my fruits and vegetables and milk. I can't imagine wishing for those things so bad like that girl"

You are so welcome Baby - we are very lucky.

Thank you sweet piano tuners girl for giving my family such a blessing. I wish I could have done more for you but you will be in my prayers daily along with my own children until the day that I die.

I did not expect such a sweet post about a piano tuner's daughter. This is truly one of the nicest things I've read in a long time. I'm sure you made an impression on that girl just like she made an impression on you. :)

WOW. The things we learn from angels unaware. Best post of the day, I think.

Trying to see the words I am typing through my tears. Thank you for sharing and I, too, will be praying for this little girl. This will stay with me and help me to remember all the things for which I am thankful.

What a story. I am glad that you and your kids got to meet the piano tuner's daughter. Thank you for sharing the story with us - it brought a tear to my eye.

You are a much bigger person than I am. I would have told her no to all her requests and then glared at the father for allowing his daughter to act so inappropriately. Thanks for having such a big heart. MUCH bigger than mine.

That is so sweet yet so sad too! I am glad you gave her something she doesn't experience very often!
